Ar Raheeq Al Makhtum Urdu | Award Winning Seerah | Safi ur Rehman Mubararkpuri

Ar Raheeq Al Makhtum: The Award-Winning Urdu Biography of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Ar Raheeq Al Makhtum — known in English as The Sealed Nectar — is regarded by scholars and general readers alike as the most accessible and authoritative modern Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Written by Sheikh Safi ur Rahman Mubarakpuri, the work was awarded first prize in the global Seerah competition organised by the Muslim World League (Rabita al-Alam al-Islami) in 1979 — a distinction that established it as the standard introduction to the Prophet's life for an entire generation of readers worldwide.

Why This Is Pakistan's Most Read Urdu Seerah

The Seerah genre carries unique demands. It must be historically rigorous, sourced in authentic narrations, and at the same time readable enough that the reader feels the human reality of the Prophet's ﷺ life — the trials of Makkah, the migration to Madinah, the struggles, the victories, the final pilgrimage. Few works in any language balance these requirements as effectively as Ar Raheeq Al Makhtum.

Sheikh Mubarakpuri (1943–2006) drew his account directly from the earliest classical sources — Ibn Ishaq, Ibn Hisham, al-Tabari, the Sahihain — and presented it in a structure accessible to readers without prior background in classical scholarship. The Urdu rendering preserves both the scholarly weight of the original and the natural narrative flow that has made the work so widely loved.

Across Pakistan, this is the Seerah most frequently recommended in mosques, study circles, and madrasahs as a starting point for those wishing to know the Prophet's ﷺ life in depth. It remains one of our highest-selling titles in our Seerah collection year after year. Readers who want to explore the full range of Sheikh Mubarakpuri's scholarship will find his other works in our author collection.
